How did you know my name?

I have been a full fledged sports mom for 15+ years. Which really means that I’ve been walking around with my last name on the back my shirt or sweatshirt for about 15 years. When your kid(s) start playing sports you suddenly have to start wearing “spirit wear” or you run the risk of looking like an unsupportive parent. Never mind the fact that your kid gets assigned to a different baseball and/or soccer team each year.

All of my boys started playing t-ball at 5 years old. Not once did any of them end up on the same team every year. As a non baseball fan, I really see no point in buying a shirt for a team I don’t follow. WTF, am I going to do with a Florida Marlins shirt? Nothing, that’s what, because that damn shirt is still hanging in my closet 12 years later!

Now the thing is “bling wear”, which translates to glittery spirit wear for the moms. My closet is 75% black clothes. I don’t glitter. Well I didn’t until this last year. I broke down and bought the freaking glittery shirts and sweatshirts.

Now I’m the mom you see that doesn’t wear makeup, whose let her hair go grey and is most known for her resting bitch face. I don’t glitter. But wait, now I glitter. I freaking glitter!

As my middle son graduates high school this year and is looking at playing football in college; I realize that I will have a whole new team’s spirit wear in my closet. Let’s hope they don’t have bling wear.
